Geek craft for my father

05 Sep

It is now an estabilshed fact that my Dad (while reamining impossible to buy for) will happily recieve gifts of geek craft. This Fathers’ Day, I decided to expliot his space-geekery:

This cross-stitched Earth is from a free pattern by Harmless Eccentric; it’s a pixellated version of Apollo 17’s famous “Blue Marble” photo.

It was stitched on 14-count black Aida with three strands of DMC. It’s framed in an op-shopped hoop, and took me about four days of madly stitching in every spare moment.

While it looks a bit chunky close-up, it looks much more impressive the further away you are standing. Now that I think of it, the same is true for the real earth, too. Neat.
