It is now an estabilshed fact that my Dad (while reamining impossible to buy for) will happily recieve gifts of geek craft. This Fathers’ Day, I decided to expliot his space-geekery:
This cross-stitched Earth is from a free pattern by Harmless Eccentric; it’s a pixellated version of Apollo 17′s famous “Blue Marble” photo.
It was stitched on 14-count black Aida with three strands of DMC. It’s framed in an op-shopped hoop, and took me about four days of madly stitching in every spare moment.
While it looks a bit chunky close-up, it looks much more impressive the further away you are standing. Now that I think of it, the same is true for the real earth, too. Neat.
